As I was going through nickels the other night I was pondering something. If you disregard the "cost" to trade in silver coins for other denominations or premiums that 90% have over say 35% war nickels and speak completely in equivalent silver content, How many war nickels equal the silver content in a given amount of dimes. I was trying to determine this in terms of whole coins.

Now I already knew that the metal content in dimes, quarters, and halves are all relative to their fave value (i.e. a half has twice as much metal as a quarter), but what about war nickels? As it turns out, I calculated it to be 9 war nickels is exactly the same amount of silver as 7 silver dimes.

I was really bored at lunch today so I decided to make a chart that contained these calculations for all the denominations. So here you go! I'm not sure how helpful this is to dealing with coins, but I think it's very interesting. I obtained all weights from coinflation for these calculations. Let me know what you think.

I like it. What about another section that shows silver content in a 90% Morgan/Peace dollar?
