Went door knocking with Captain caveman this morning for a few hours and had the most dumb luck success. We are both coin shooters. We love old coins, silver and gold.

But today, I found a button. And from what I hear, not just any button. A button that is hard to come by.

Its shank is complete and straight. Still blown away.

Love it!
I need to start doing those door knocks too!
I am just so scared I might hit an irrigation system, or something and cause some sort of damage.

Nice find.:thumbsup:Not 100 percent sure but I think it's a Mississippi Infantry button. Cool any day of the week.

Wow. I believe that is a one piece, cast with drilled shank, Block I, Confederate Infantry Coat button.
I believe some were pewter, but yours looks to be made of brass.
That is an incredible find, and i do believe it is not very common.
Id rather dig that one button over a handful of 20th century silver coins.
I would try to remove some of the green corrosion, and soak it in some oil, and it should bring it back to life a bit.

If it is 23mm it could be CS 184a in Alberts book. RV 35.

Pretty sure that is a solid cast pewter button. The block I. I have one just like it.

That solid cast block I button is rare indeed. Alot more rare than the iron back block I's. Congrats on such a great and historic find.
