Confederate Button?

Found this button (and 2 more) while metal detecting where a small fort used to be occupied between 1840 - 1846 in Florida. I have been unable to find this particular button anywhere on the net... I have found the manufacturer and have dated this button somewhere between 1840 - 1870. Can anyone identify this button? Obviously the "P" holds some significance...
