First find of the year and anything confederate is on my bucket list. Research I've done shows that I found a confederate engineer button. Backmark is Extra Superb. Thanks for looking and good luck out there!

Yes that is a nice button. Robert E Lee served in the army corps of engineers for 26 years prior to the Civil war. So you know he had a fondness for his engineers.

Thanks again. Can't wait to go back to that spot but it may be a while if we get as much rain as we are supposed to over the next few days.

Got back to that spot again today for few hours. We got a ton of rain last night so it was very nasty. Managed to scratch a few round balls out and maybe a pistol round.

Found out today that the property was owned by L.L. Clyburn who was in Co. G, Seventh S.C. Vol. May be more period relics laying around.

Thanks for the votes guys! I've been back a few times since finding it and have found several round balls and tons of modern shotgun shell heads. I'm thinking the round balls may be Rev War period. The property is near the Battle of Camden(1780) and there was a lot of activity on this property. I'm still trying to figure out why this button was there! When I first dug it up I thought I saw a crown on it. Didn't realize what it was until I got back to my phone I left in the truck. Just goes to show you never know what you might find. I have spent many days on this property and not found a thing. Thanks again and good luck out there!
