Hi everyone! It has been awhile since I have posted anything but I thought yesterday's find was worth sharing!
I went back to a camp I have been hunting off and on for the past 9 yrs. and recovered my find of the year and my first button of this type.

According to Albert's book it is a Confederate Local staff button, #25a in his book! WooHoo!!! Yes, it does have hints of gold gilt on both obverse & reverse! After all the pics. were taken and even one taken with my cell phone so I could send it to my hunting buddies, I regained my composure and vigilantly started hunting that site very intensely. No sooner than I made my first sweep that I had another button signal. I just knew it was going to be another one, but it turned out to be a GS button with a SCOVILL MF'G. CO. WATERBURY backmark. That's okay I'll take it!

Enough text, here are the pics.

Thanks for looking!

That is a KILLER button find! Congratulations! Only witnessed one of those dug in 20 years of hunting the Virginias, Kentucky, and the Deep South.

Thanks for the replies and kudos everyone, it is much appreciated!

Buckleboy - Yeah, I hear ya. I've been digging relics now for 25 yrs. and it finally became a reality for me. I guess it just pays to be persistent!!

Steve - You know for sure I wasn't expecting to find that at all!:laughing7:

HomeGuardDan - Thanks! I'm going to have to add some more top notch finds to measure up to what you have been finding lately!! WTG!!!

danimal - Good to hear from you! Yes, you know for a fact that if this particular button could talk it would be screaming!!

Evan - Good to hear from you again too! I had an amazing year last year adding my 5th gold coin to my career finds!!

Jeff - Thanks again bud! I'm heading back to the same area on Monday. I'll keep ya posted on how I did!!

Pete - Yes Pete, it has made my year so far! What a surprise it was indeed!! Thanks bud!!!

Last year I also found parts to a Sharps rifle near where I found this button. Who knows what else is out there waiting to be discovered!!
