Welcome to TNet. My advice, Keep reading here and watching metal-detecting-videos. There's probably as many opinions of "good detector" as there are detectors.

Even after 12 hours of tumbling mine still have that stuff on them. Any advice on an easy way to remove it?

Welcome to T Net! Hope your first find with what ever detector you get is a jaw dropper!
Learn what the machine is telling you and you will do well.

Deepseeker3- as long as they are not valuable coins and are just clad try CLR but keep checking them.

I had to use that on my beach finds, they were really corroded.
