Hi all
I found a steal bar that has a layer of copper coating it. It is in rocks in a salt water lagoon, i figure it is for a tie up for ships but i do not know what culture used it. Any ideas.???

COME ON GUYS
:dontknow:
there has to be someone who has some incite on this.
It is in the rocks to the right of the plate i am holding, the plate is from the early 1900's.
But there must be overlapping history. :icon_thumright:

What's the approximate diameter of the bar? Is it anchored to the rocks or just wedged in there?
I know modern lightning rods are copper clad, but they're usually only 1/2"( at least for residential applications)

THE DIAMETER IS ABOUT 3 INCHES AND IS WEDGED INTO THE ROCK.

just my opinion
from reading these articles, i think you may have found a piece of scrap,
from the initial process to making copper clad steel wire, how the piece
of scrap got there who knows, what it was used for who knows, i think
the process is pretty much the same today, so a time frame from 1915
to the present for that piece of copper clad steel
