I had a day off today & thankfully the weather held & the wind had dried the field from the constant rain yesterday. I was on my own for most of the hunt (Land-Mag was lift again!) which was 5 hours & 45 minutes.

I had 39 Roman Bronze Coins (some album quality, most not)
3-4th C broken Roman Buckle Plate
My first Romano-Celtic (1st-2nd C) Double Eye Belt Slide.:headbang: Land-mag had a very similar one in the next door field a couple of years back. These are pretty rare & mine is complete!
Roman Pin Head
1 Broken Fibula

Another great holiday.

That is an outstanding day! A bunch of romans and some real good in condition. And you topped it with the belt slide! Well worth the effort! :icon_thumright:

Yeap, this really deep plough has meant it's like doing a new site again. Anytime they bring up a Ses. (now my 2nd from the site) in an area we have covered 3 times means we are onto a good one!

Deep plow is always a good thing. I wish you good luck for that "good one"
I'm waiting for the plow on a special site too. Farmer told me he goes 60cm deep in november. :hello2:

Wow that is deep, ours was only about 35cm!

He does it only every few years. It is not a real plow, more like tearing the soil but it helps a lot. After some years the soil is so compressed from the big farming machines that this is needed. 30 to 35 is the common deep for plowing here.

plate buckle then. Wondered what it was! Great day. Love the complete belt slider. Looks like this site was occupied throughout a long period.

Agreed, seems to cover the whole period. Although unlike the Brooch Field, we have no had any Iron Age yet.
