and a Large Cent cant quite date it, but found same area as the 1853 seated Quarter

I'd say about 9" .

pulled out the Schmit's Screw off cap at about 3" swung over the area again
and got the Sharp deep coin signal about 6" to the side of it.

was getting frustrating trying to reach the coin.

according to the locals there used to be a big old tree in that area.
(you can see the stump in the birds eye view)
which probably explains the older stuff there.

Maybe you need to shift your focus a bit? I think it's kind of neat to see that home plate was in a different spot.

Just paint the high grass yellow again and maybe they'll pull it out again for the next visit. LOL

EHHHH, for once i knew what someones Hoochamajigger was (boat plug), and then i scroll down and i see someone beat me to it in IDing it, oh well, maybe next time

Nice find on the LG jeff, that coin might clean up alittle with a hydrogen peroxide bath. Erick in new jersey told me about it and it worked on my 1801 penny. Happy hunting.

I could see the date when first looking at it in the field, but it wasn't sharp enough to read.
I have a bottle of Peroxide sitting here i guess i could try it. I hate taking the original 150 year old tone off of coins
but to get a date ?

I cleaned a sharp 1838 once & the date disappeard, it's not an 1838 it's thin.
& i know 1812's are softer metal, so not sure what cleaning will do if it's an 1812
but I'm guessing by hair 1840's or more likely 1850's





how long do you actually soak it ?
do you nuke the peroxide first ?
