How much depth will i loose by going to a 5.75 or 7" coil on the Cortes? And how will it affect tid readout's? Been thinking about getting a smaller coil for the cortes, and not sure which one to get.....Thanks for looking...........hh rh

Depth depends on the size of the target and soil conditions.

The Cortes and DeLeon are the same in depth.

Under ideal soil conditions and a copper wheat penny target:

The 5.75 may get 4 inches

The 7 incher 5 inches

The 9x8 about 6 inches

The 12x10 about 8 inches

Almost all VLF detectors get these depths with these coils (or similar). But with the stock coil it's very difficult to find a VLF that gets a true consistant 7 inches inches on a buried U.S. penny coin.

Depths may be greater in very wet and/or undisturbed ground but usually they are less than shown.

The Cortes and DeLeon both suffer from a lack of adjustable ground balance in discrimination mode. But, they're still great detectors and they really find the goodies.

I can't comment on meter (T.I.D.) readings.
