I'm sure this idea has been mentioned here before, but my wife has done rather well with her natural eye for good costume jewelry at thrift stores and yard sales. Sometimes a bag of old "junk" jewelry can be had for a dollar or two, and may contain items that are quite collectable. Especially look for well made items stamped with names and hallmarks of known makers. Art Nouveau and Art Deco pieces show up often and are sold cheap because the owners have no idea what they have. My wife bought the square brass and enamel Volupte compact for twenty five cents, and eventually sold it for over a hundred dollars.

The compact was the first thing that jumped out at me before I read this statement. Then the other two I quoted, the others not so much, but then I don't know the marks on them either so...

I'm always looking for quality vintage costume jewelry. The older the better.

It has come up once or twice before.

Just kidding. Nice finds.
