If this is true & I have no evidence to say either way, then surely you mean 'personalised' rather than stamped. This has not been stamped, its been stratched into the coin.
 

I would agree that it is not couterstamped but just personalized.

Some people are posting too bad it has the initials scratched into it. As long as it is not a key date/valuable coin I would rather find it with initials then without them. I enjoy finding old common day items that people modified or personalized. I think it makes them more charming and interesting. What did the MF stand for (keep it clean)...was it the persons initials or someone they loved. Makes you think.
