Counterfeit 1764 2 Reales

Hunted my 1764 1 Real site today. Most of my finds came from a high grass area I had been avoiding. Got the usual colonial finds including some toasted coppers, a complete bit boss and a sweet little clog clasp with some fancy on it. Also got what looks like another piece of the sword hilt but easily my favorite was the counterfeit but more likely facsimile button. Cool find either way

Hey toasted I might be right there with you not too long ago I got a 1760 1 reale two pillar it looked pewter color and then went up put it in lemon juice it came out dark and I could see a little traces of the silver what do you think?

Outstanding find!! Only counterfeits I ever find are KGII’s, I think I found 3 last year. Nice job!!

In leaning more towards this being a facsimile button. No evidence of a shank threw me off at first

That’s a great find! A year or two ago I got a big 8 down here but it was so toasted no detail remained except for the line/dot edge design

I got a 1875 counterfeit Seated dime made out of Antimony

lots of old counterfeits out there - but Ive have found some colonial silver i thought was counterfeit but turned out to be fire coins
