For those of you that hunt large cropfields, is there a specific kind of field you look for? Not as far as the crop, but the area. Or do you just find large fields and hope for the best? How do you find out how old a field is?
Are you ever totally disappointed in your finds? I know it sounds like a rookie question, but I have an area that has a few large fields, but I don't know if they've always been fields, or maybe were once house lots, wooded, etc. I do know that the area has some colonial homes, and during the Revolutionary War a general marched his troops through the area. I'm hoping for a campsite, but there could be many possible locations for a site. Would they have camped on a hillside field or in a valley field?
