2.5 hours into the 4.5 hour hunt Dad had nothing. I was laughing as he detects along side me in the grid, so I was getting all the runs with the finds. He ended the day with 1/2 roman scrappy, 1 pewter button, & 1 blank copper. This is normal but then he fights back with the find of month, so I'm waiting for the big one :D

I had a bit of a button day (all but one with loops), with the smallest being dug at 4.5inches.

Pewter/Tombac types
Lead-alloy - broken
Napoleonic period Dragoons button :)

Nice Lead token
Georgian brass mail bag tag
4 scrappy romans plus a nice one of Constantine I (unfortunately a very common reverse)
Very pleased with the leather rose decoration probably just post Medieval (still has both handmade rivets & nice patina) :)
Just to prove how sensitive the Cortes is, look at the smallest piece of splash SILVER I have found.

Overall a better day. We shall try & finish up tomorrow ready for the Church Field next week.

Found several civilian silver buttons but no Military. I believe these were only Officer buttons & I'm still looking.

Great finds and photos as usual, Crusader and Dad. What are the rings and when do they date from?
