Asked permission to hunt an older home in the neighborhood, and my first hit was a 1917 Wheat.? I considered that a good sign of what was to come.? Although I was unable to find many more goodies, but next found part of a skeleton key and several memorial cents.? A got a Tootsie toy car and lastly dug a fob like artifact with a galloping buck on it.? The back appears to have a name engraved on it.? No visible lettering yet, but I'll repost if I can make out anything more.

good fortune to you all.

Re: deer fob -- added pic

Picture is now posted.

Still no visible lettering on front, but back had three letter Monogram carved in a fancy script.

It sure looks like a John Deere watch fob to me.

Great find! Listed in the 1995 "Addendum No. 1" to Allan C. Hoover's Second Watch Fob Guide Book as a John Deere Co. fob (#JD-92), with an A-G rarity/value rating of F, $75-100. However, it's definitely worth 'way more today. In fact, some of the other Deere "F" rated fobs have more than doubled in price over the last ten years.
