Are there any metal detector dealers or stores in the Williamsport area I would very much like to look at some machines before buying one

Assuming PA, do a google search. If you come up empty, there is one in Gettysburg, call and set up an appointment so Don can spend time with you without to much interruption. I have only dealt with him on the phone but his is very knowledgeable and has lots of machines in stock, worth a day trip! I am not in the market but may take a run out this spring just to shop and try some higher end units out for fun!
