Either next Wednesday or Thursday I should be receiving an almost new Land Star I just ordered today at what I consider a fair price compared to sales everywhere. 
While I'm waiting, perhaps you can tell me about your satisfaction level with the detector and what frustrates you about it. Also any tips you've learned. I'll be going to the beach more than the local parks so your experience at the beach will be a big help. 
Tell me how you GB for wet sand (I'm not going in the water past my ankles 
), where you set your controls, etc. Have any of you removed the control box to use it as a hip mount to just have the light weight of the rod? It's something I'm considering doing.
Does your Land Star squeal and by that I mean does it produce the high tone constantly even where there doesn't seem to be any metal?
When you're at the beach, do you wear Polarized sunglasses and if you do, is the LCD display still visible or does it disappear? 8)
