Dragoon button....

Found in a park with no history of Dragoon activity, but they did travel all over this state so this could have been lost when they passed through on the way to somewhere else.
An unusual design and no back mark either but the most knowledgeable Dragoon site hunter I know says he believes it is genuine from maybe the 1840-1850's era.
I can't find an exact match so even though Dragoon relics are rare, maybe this is a very rare one.
Good enough for me till I get proof it is fake...and who would fake a Dragoon cuff button anyway?
Not a huge relic hunter but I will take them when I find them and I am thrilled.

Nice button.:thumbsup: I'm not a fan of cleaning a copper/alloy or brass finds with water it tends to dry it out, just lately I have soaked my finds of material like this with a vegetable oil, it stops that dry rough effect left by water...anyway nice find.

Thanks, I coated mine with some oil after reading your post and it looks a lot better.
