Those are some of the finest side scan pics I have seen. But Pete, I think you and me should just stick to our Humminbird side scans. I am sure they are not inexpensive!
Those are some impressive scans. I was so impressed I went looking to see if they were, indeed representative of the equipment and to find what that equipment might cost. According to this document on L-3 Klein's site:http://www.l-3klein.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/05/Side-Scan-Comparative-Assessment.pdf the new 4125 unit costs approx. $35,000. Here's the video from Youtube: .
Great shallow water tool!
Realizing that the link is to the new 4125 1600kHz sonar, while I was Googling, I found this Edgetech 4100 (100/400kHz) posted in Geotech's forum: Edgetech 4100 Side scan sonar for sale which has more astonishingly clear pictures as well as a price ($20,000 Euros) on a used unit and a link to the "For Sale" page on that unit which is found here: Welcome to the CERES's Underwater Research Center Internet site .
What we need here is a Treasure Hunter Stimulus program...
