Found this 1953 d wheat penny that has had the entire rim cut off all the way around it! Weird !
Wondering if anyone has ever seen such a thing or knows why this was done? Thanks , Chris
p.s. I have a quarter with the edging all worn off, from being trapped in a clothes dryer. The penny being softer would probably take less time to wear.
Back in the 60's we also cut the outer rim of a penny with tin snips and laid the penny on the sidewalk and rubbed it back and forth under are shoes to get it thinner. It took 3 cents to buy a bottle of coke at that time instead of 30 cents. I think we did this once just to see if it would work.
