Ok... so, I MD'd an old home site yesterday... it was a total mess. (of course)
I spent a lot of time just looking around. Good thing I didnt try to do this in the dark, I would have surely broken my neck... or something ... I saw a basement, kept looking around. I did find some special geodes/ gems (chalcedony, they say from the gem/stone forum)
Also found some bars that once secured the little above ground basement windows... an old hinge.. and a bullet head (?) that is stamped WRA NO.12 Rival According to the web, it was produced between 1847-1897. Also brought home 2 old bricks... one is a San Antonio based Comapny (still around) D'Hanis... Established in 1883, began processing brick in 1905. This home site I MD is on the map I have from 1936... so, the bricks are at least that old.
The other brick, stamped "Johnson-Laredo" I can find NOTHING about!
Today, a different place, a few old things without my detector.
An old spoon stamped: WMA Rogers {silver/nickel} R
an old SQUARE drill bit...? never seen a square one before... anybody???
One lonely fossil and another bullet that somehow I lost.
Brought home some beautiful green feathers too, couldnt resist!
Last, but NOT least... my 2nd peice of worked flint!!! ( a preform)
Today was awesome... 78 degrees, calm water... took dogs and kayak out today... then came home to do chicken and beef fajitas on the grill... What a day!

Go back with a hoe and a rake and clean up the surface a little and I bet you find silver. Looks like a great site.

Got some cool old stuff, nice finds. I believe the "WRA" stands for Winchester Repeating Arms Co. Good old find, Congrats!
