No ifs ands or buts about it...western Sierras at about 3200' elevation... I'd love info on this piece. Personal find on private property. Thanks y'all! ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1502055849.047684.jpg ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1502055968.704636.jpg

Thanks for the info! I was wondering if this is typical for this area, Nevada City. And what age? I'm very much new to this and this is the first projectile point I've ever found! I'm super stoked! Thanks again!

I'm just getting out of the mountains now. I'll get a couple more pics when I get home. Based on the info provided by southfork, it's 9-12,000 years old. Transitional paleo. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong!

Ok. I've taken a bunch of pics. Hopefully they will be clear enough. They only one I couldn't capture was the thickness. It measures an even 1/4" after the taper for the point. I'd love feedback...I've read a bit on what Southfork believes it is and I'm amazed at it! I'm feeling blessed! Thanks! I think so but I know nothing. It was hinted that it may be a certain type but I have no experience in identifying.

Very nice find and now it is on like donkey kong.:laughing7:

Yeah no kidding-! I'm really not sure if your find is a blessing or a curse of sorts, CHUDS. ;)

I can't tell you how many hours I spend looking at google maps for new places to hunt. I fear my retirement (someday-hopefully) will consist of me wandering around aimlessly looking at the ground.

CHUDs, not sure what to call that one. It's thick enough to be Haskett, but the flaking reminds me of something else. Either way it's a great find.

If it's a Haskett, that's a better example than most hunters will find. Rare, rare points. Here is a link with some more info on Hasketts. They are among the oldest point types in the US.
