How does one find an outhouse if there is no structure or platform showing where it once stood? I have an idea of where the house structure once stood but I am having a hard time finding where the outhouses are is there any books or reading material teaching us to find these sites? Any useful ways to look for them or tools to help locate them? Any help would be much help!! Aloha!!

The Outhouse would also have Been Behind the House.

Not real close because of Oders, Not real Distant Because
of the Harsh Winters, and needing it in the middle of the night.
In my town, they were at the End of the yard / rear walk way.
and just inside the gate.
and at one point or another, moved from one side of the walk
to the other, when full.

you can also use a long metal probe to try and find the walls of the outhouse they usually were lined with stone also look for a shallow depression that looks like someone had dug a hole. and start to probe on an angle to hit the sides good luck and hh

Look for a spot that has the greenest grass.....right now with the early morning frost, even the smallest of depressions are easier to spot.

Gypsy hit on it, small depressions in otherwise level ground. As the contents deteriorates the ground will sink in slightly. Monty
