look for markings like 925 or 800 --- there could be other "markings" of course

most likely 925 its the silver content of a sterling silver ring = 92 . 5 % silver marked as 925 ---most likely the 5 is wore down ---congrats on finding a silver ring are in order I think ;) Ivan
if you see 800 its german "nickle silver" very common on older items--- it was a bit harder and wore better -- some times there are word marking too -- Ivan

I see canadian quarters--- remember canada also used to use silver in its coins many years ago --so check them carefully - us dimes and quarters and halves 1964 and before are (90% silver)---afterwards only the halves 1965 to 1970 -- which are only 40% silver. --- Ivan
