Beautiful! I'm still trying to find a decent drill. What material is that made out of? I can see why your feet are off the ground. What a day you had!
It is nice to see some real history on the banner!

I'm not sure about value as I don't buy or sell anything, but I'm sure a pretty penny. It is however a very rare find. There are very few corner tang drills that have ever been found. This one is museum quality. Maybe someone that knows more about them will chime in.

Congrats on the banner Neogeo, it's very well deserved. I am really a novice when it comes to native American artifacts, how would this "corner tang" be attached to something and what would they have used it for. I know its called a drill but what did they "drill" with it and how would it have worked becauce the handle/shaft that it was attached to would have been offset? I would think it would need to be in a straight line with the handle to get good leverage with it?
WoW thanx for all the kind words ya'll...I have seen them in books, and have heard of THAT GUY who found one digging right where you are now..kinda thing, but never expected to find one..So I guess I am that guy now..lol
I can't be of any help with the use part.Alot of folks have alot of theorys on drill use,and corner tang hafting. And is a thread in it's self.
I.M.O. The tang was used for attaching a leather carrying thong,The drill....huh....Punch, buttin, hair pin, marrow gettin at tool?I think they all could be right.
