Nice piece of history you found; congrats.
Both the Winchester Model 1873 rifle and 44-40 cartridge soon became widely popular and ubiquitous, so much so that the Winchester 1873 became known as "The gun that won the West". I believe that bullet has been in continuous production since that year.
Welcome to Treasure Net. We look forward to your next discoveries.

Welcome to T-Net.

I hate to be the one to tell you, but you're hooked. You will spend the rest of your life with dirty fingernails digging up treasure, buying batteries and digging tools.

But, first you must get a camera. We must have pics of your finds. :icon_sunny:

Good Luck tomorrow.

Thank you everyone for the nice replies! I totally agree that I will be hooked! :) I have another day and then heading back hm to So. Cal where I will continue to look but its just not the same as here in Wy. Does anyone know a good metal detector? I used a basic one that is my brothers and we want to buy a new one tomorrow. We would like something that is good with Depth and anything else that might be worth our while!
Thank you so much!
Sheri
