After literally thousands of pull tabs, bottle caps, and pieces of foil, I finally got one!! :hello2: It is marked, but the mark is situated right where it's broke so I couldn't make it out for sure in the field, so I went down to the local jeweler when I got done and it tested at 10K. It's trashed and only 10K but I'm still happy with it!! I went to the old abandoned campground today that I have been working on since January, and decided to take the Ace 350 out for a change since I've had it for about a year and have only used it once. It didn't do too bad, ended up finding the ring, 2 Buffalo Nickels: 1936 and 1937, 14 Wheaties, some clad, another key, a little tag that says Madeleine on it, and 2 Mercury Dimes: 1936 and 1942, which brings my silver coin total up to 39 for the year. If anybody reading this uses an Ace 350, the gold ring came in at the foil range, one notch below nickel, so just goes to show if you use too much discrimination you may be missing some good stuff!!

Wow! 20 plus years!!! One would think the odds would dictate that one would have to turn up! That's an incredible run without one if you've always dug the foil.

In any case, I'm glad you finally did and I love the cameo! That is a VERY pretty lil ring!

Congrats!

HH!

Congratulations. Beautiful cameo ring, too bad about it being mangled, but it probably could be repaired.

I didn't always dig the foil, I was one of those people that cranked the disc way up, and left the really good stuff for everyone else. :BangHead: Plus for the first few years detecting I didn't get out much due to the military (Not much room for storing my detector onboard ships).

I got myself the Ace 350 a year ago christmas and have been really happy with it. I usually run 2 notches below the nickel just for that reason. My first gold find was a small mothers 10K ring that rang at foil to one below foil. The ring was broken so had a very low tone. Do you have the "DD" coil? If not it is worth getting. I have run it against the oval coil (small and large) and the pinpointing and depth is definitely better. (Deepest target to date was an intermittent silver quarter signal at 12"-14".)
Congrats on the gold and HH

That's the same settings I use on mine too. My ring came up as kind of an iffy signal probably since it was broken, but here the last few years I've learned that when in doubt, just dig it, glad I did!! Oh and I have the 8.5" X 11" DD coil that came with the detector.

I love a sailor. :anchor:

LOL...don't downgrade the ring as being "just 10K"--All my gold ring finds are 10K and I would not have been any more thrilled if they had been 24K.

That Cameo is beautiful!!! I'd definitely get it repaired. Congratulations.
