I was hunting an open field when I got a low tone on my Etrac. Almost everytime I dig this same tone its aluminum foil, but was very surprised to find the High School Ring from 1942. There was no name inside the ring only the makers mark, "J.E.C". I googled it and found out it was the J.E. Caldwell and Company still in business today. They make gold and silver jewelry. I could not find any other markings on it but when it popped out of the ground it was shining. My friends wife tested it for me and said it was 14K gold and weighed 5.6grams. The band was broke to the ring when I removed it from the clump of dirt. The high school is located about 25miles from where I was hunting and a new high school opened up in 1956 replacing the old Hagerstown High School.

Hey, thats a nice find, way to go. To bad you couldn't ID the owner, it's a blast returning something like that to it's owner.

Yea, that was the first thing I thought of. I originally thought the makers mark was the owners initials but the Internet helped prove otherwise.
