I was out today in an area that has some history back to 1833. I am sure this area has been hit heavy over the years. Was shocked when I actually found a 1822 large cent. I thought I was a clad half dollar at first. The new Etrac gave a solid signal. I cleaned it prior to the photos.
Nice find. I was out your way last week. Had to take wife to Moosewood Restaurant in Ithaca and hit a few wineries along Cayuga Lake on way home heading back up to thruway.
Indeed a sweet find. I still remember my first large cent. In 1997 (I remember the year I found it) it was about 13" down in a farmer's field in SW NH. My old Fisher sang out loud and proud, and I dug like a gopher to get it. The cent was holed, which at the time I thought was pretty bad, but now I like holed coins. The sad this is, I cant remember what happened to that LC. Its missing. :-(
