Got out for a hunt yesterday with The Patriot and Romeo, and it turned out to be a really great one. Getting out of the house is great, but when the finds are good and enough to keep you motivated, it's great! And when that really nice one pops up near the end, that much better!
I almost gave up on this signal, as I somehow pushed it down between the tilled field, but thankfully, I didn't and was able to get my first military button! A nice 2nd American ;D

I managed five coppers for the day:

The coin in the bottom two pictures appears to have a date of 1720, any ideas? I haven't put it in peroxide because it looks pretty fragile. Also got a George III and a couple of crustys mixed in there.
Also found what we first thought was a silver cufflink, but turns out it is plated, still kinda neat :)

Now the other odds and ends, musketballs, buckles, couple tiny pewter buttons, what appears to be a silver plated pewter/lead fleur-di-lis brooch of some sort, and some other odds and ends.

I had a great day, was good to meet up with people and be able to share a nice find!

That's what I'm thinking, thought it was scrap iron when I shoved it in my pouch!

I think that's exactly what it is.... funny that you found it, we didn't spend that much time there and lots of iron around...we'll have to put them together....

I'll keep it around and you can have it, might as well keep them together!
The Voce Populi copper was the one over 12 inches down!

You obviously didn't get condition, but that's one we don't see often! I don't recall ever seeing one posted on a detecting forum. Bragging rights for sure.

Condition is one thing I don't get often on coppers, but an ID is great. It's holed right above the date as well, which for me is kinda cool. One of these days maybe I'll get lucky and find an early site under some maple trees, with no fertilizer in sight, and good soil PH.

I held the button in hand last night and it is certainly banner worthy! Looks like Patriot's lucky horse shoes worked for both us. I'm on the road right now and will post this evening.

Good to meet you Hicks, we'll have to do it again sometime.

Coppers and buttons, What a great day !

Rare coppers are always fun to dig ;D The pewter button is a truly rare find :notworthy: I am rather fond of buttons!

You have my vote on the button!
