First of the 'Stubble' fields by the river.

Completed the first of the 4 stubble fields by the river.
Found loads of buttons and a few 'recent' decimal coins:
Buttons-Bullet-Decimal.jpg

including this 'Wolf' livery button:
Wolf-Livery-Button.jpg

Loads of older coins, most so smooth that all detail has gone:
Coins-All.jpg

4 bits of silver (1943 'Two Shillings', 1922 & 1924 'One Shilling' & 1920 'Sixpence':

1806/07 George III Penny:

1806 George III Halfpenny:

and this 1770s George III Irish Halfpenny:

Found 2 more 'complete' horse shoes and these bits, thimble, musket ball, broken pan weight, etc:

Three more fields to do (time permitting)
Best wishes.

I'm sure there's older stuff there too but because of the soil conditions and the many 'floods' I'm sure it would have sunk three feet down or more - just hoping the farmer might do some 'Deep' ploughing one day - or better still remove the top couple of feet of top soil :laughing7:

If it's been farmed for a long period of time, the goodies shouldn't be that deep :read2: do you know if the field has had spuds in :icon_scratch:

If he has had, that means the sub-soiler would have been down 3ft

Nice to get a Livery button with most of its plating :icon_thumright: (a bit of lemon juice will take the last of the green off)

Is that a coin weight in the first picture (top, middle - Square item)?

Would a coin weight have any numbers or letters? :icon_scratch: This looks completely smooth on both sides - 18mm square.

There are many different types, & yes might have no.s & designs etc... Can you do a close up of both sides?
