Finally found a silver coin after 4 months. It was only 2 inches down and signaled like an easy dime on Ace 250. Surprised at how shiny it looked still in the plug vs the tarnished clad I typically find.
Congratulations!! That is an awesome first silver and in beautiful shape, too! I'd say it was worth the two-month wait. My first silver was a 1956 Roosevelt, but I sure wish it was more like yours.
A big "Congratulations" on that special silver.......just a wonderful coin!
My first silver was 4 months into the hobby this past February..........but, just a '64 Rosie.
No comparison to your gem!!!!
Nice coin. The vast majority of silver coins come out of the ground shiny. It's a thrill when you are digging a hole and see a shiny glint cause you think you have silver. It's something you will always look for now. But sometimes your heart will get racing and it's just aluminum or something else shiny. But it's all part of the fun.
Nice! It just goes to show you the pathetic cr@p the mint passes off as coinage these days. 100+ years in the ground and your coin comes out nice, modern clad in the ground for a few months and it takes hours in a tumbler to get it good enough to spend.
Found another silver yesterday. Quarter this time, but not as old, 1959. Ratio clad to silver now about 1:75. (Ratio of coin to junk 1:5, that's a lot of junk per silver coin) Would likely be better ratios with higher end detector.
