I went out to the beach to use my Garrett 250 yesterday. This was the first time that I had ever tried this hobby. I have been watching people do this for years and wanted to try it.

This first time experience was amazing. I spent about an hour and a half walking down the beach. I found a few fishing sinkers and 13 cents in change. My best find of the day was a men's stamped 14K gold ring with what appears to be 3 diamond chips.

This was an amazing find for my first experience. The only problem is that I probably set the bar high for any

future detecting adventures.

I have a very demanding job during the week. I found this a great way to decompress on the weekends. I can't wait for my next experience.

Nice find!I have yet to find true gold ring, after 8 years of detecting. No you did not set the bar too high, you just gained confidence in detecting .I must tell you though, after that ring, you will be out swinging that Ace every chance you get. I have been swinging an Ace for 6 years ,and loved every minute of it. It will pay for itself in short time.

Your off to a great start, never found a gold ring on a beach yet, went a few times only in Florida, live in the land locked areas with no chance to travel back there for now. So am working on finding a gold ring on land, still haven't found any there , not counting ones I have found on calls from people.

Nice finds. Gold rings are tricky. I have attempted to make goals about when I want to find them and they never cooperate. Enjoy.

you couldn't have picked a better hobby. I don't get to detect near as much as I used to but when I do, I am totally at peace with the world
