Sunday was a little different story. We went out to the shipping channel. It was slow catching. AND HOT! We were still using the crank baits. But only one was catching. It's name was something like Green Pickle. So we changed out some of them to spoons and Mr WD called his Charter Captain friend and found out that again we had to bump up our speed. That helped a little, but the bugs were awful out there. And everytime you tried to brush them off they just smeared all over. We ended up right in the middle of a huge hatch and I told MR WD, "Oh, Honey! I can't do this!" I can't get the tone across in a text, so I'll tell you it was in a most pathetic, pleading type of tone. He laughed. I guess when he had looked over at me, I had bugs all over my face like those people that have bees make beards and stuff on their faces. We only got 5 in that location. So we picked up and he took me to get pics of the Toledo Lighthouse. After I got my pics, we went past the Toledo Water Intake and ended up catching our limit and started to upgrade to bigger fish, but then the bugs found us. We called it a day.

DSCN5870.JPG Cloudy day.

DSCN6009.JPG Finally! One in the box!

DSCN6026.JPG We call these the Twin Towers. It is the power plant in Monroe, Michigan.

DSCN6038.JPG The bugs! They move fast. (Unless they are on your body!) I am surprised I caught two. They are Midges.

DSCN6054.JPG Marker Buoy in the shipping channel

DSCN6056.JPG With these kind of marks, you would think it would be fast and furious like Saturday.

Toledo Lighthouse. Um that white stuff is not snow or frost!

DSCN6058.JPG DSCN6060.JPG

DSCN6061.JPG DSCN6079.JPG

DSCN6081.JPG

DSCN6082.JPG Our biggest one.

DSCN6083.JPG The Toledo Water Intake.

DSCN6086.JPG I guess the Guard Duty job is for the birds! :laughing7:

DSCN6122.JPG Since I was battling the bugs, I didn't get as many fish pics. So, one last one at the cleaning table.

Thank you. I tell you, the guys and gals on this site are very helpful and pretty good teachers. Rocking around on the boat was a bit challenging. Rumor has it that these big hatches are a good sign that the lake is healthy.

Cool! I like to look at the Mahi. For some reason they just fascinate me. Maybe I'm catching the fever?

photo-1003.JPG been out shell diving. This is a big horse conch ready to drop his shell. You have to hang them if they dont come out after freezing overnight. Its so hot right now that this is what we fish for. We let the boat drag us around until we see a shell we want, then we let go of the tow rope and free dive them up. The boat circles around and picks up the shells and we continue to drag behind the boat. Awsome skin diving conditions in the summer and a great way to keep cool. Weve been getting a lot of shells lately so ill post some other types later.

No eating. Not much there. There sting can be fatal. I sell some shells to the shell shop, and an artist friend of mine. She builds masterpieces of art from shells !! Some times I skin dive with a group of others and we free dive and sell everything we get and then split the cash at the end of the month. This alphabet cone will stay in my collection for now......its the best one of my life so far !! We do eat a bunch of different types of snails though.........its a different life style down here WD !!

Got to sell that stuff to us northerners! LOL! I'll start taking pics of my decor, both here and at the trailer. I buy that stuff at garage sales and good will. Some have been given to me. Some I have found. I have little shells in my creek. I have never found anything still living in the shells, though. I am sure I have fabricated shells, too, though. Ever since I was a little kid, it always fascinated me to "hear the ocean" when I put a conch shell to me ear.

We had a fishing weekend at home. Of course we have the usual fisherman: Mr. WD and the two oldest grandsons. We also had our youngest grandson who will be three in a couple of weeks. Who, BTW, got a hold of my camera and smudged the lens.

View attachment 1615362 First up, Grandpa. He he. I cut his head off.:laughing7:

View attachment 1615363 Yes!

View attachment 1615395 "HA HA! Mines bigger!"

So, Sunday we went out of Vermillion. They were on the small side. You will see we keep the small ones in the right side of the tank. They were keepers, but always leave room for upgrades. We managed to catch our 12 and upgrade the four shorter ones. Plus we caught quite a few trying to upgrade. The biggest was 24". All and all, a beautiful day to fish Lake Erie.
