i have purchased a fisher 1212x and i am satisfied with this as a starter detector and is a decent price for a starter model $143.00. it has a one knob trash rejection and is very lightweight. i found 2 quarters in the same hole about 8 inches deep with it so it does go fairly deep

The 1212x is unbeatable for the money, It is no nonsense, responsive, light and the learning curve is fast. I bought one after having all the top of the line detectors and it is a very fine machine, the only addition I would add is a pin point for new users other than that its a hands down great detector for all

Congrats on the 1212 purchase. It is under rated and a fine detector that will find targets without you having to mess with all the knobs and doohickeys.

I carry the 1212X in my squad car for work & love it for the turn on and go feature. I use it to look for evidence.
