I have an F2 as my backup detector and its probably the best entry level detector you can buy new.
Its the only one in its price range to give you a VDI number read-out and those numbers will become invaluable to you as you start to be able to identify the difference between trash and treasure.
The best thing you can do is get out there and start in your own back yard. My yard has given up 3 silver coins, numerous clad coins, and many interesting relics.
Practice pinpointing with your detector and digging as small a plug as you can.
Practice learning what items give exactly what VDI number.
When you get your skills honed...then go out on someone else's property (with permission).
Good Luck!
