Interesting last few days here.
Thank you to everyone who shared artifacts and info.
I figure I'll add some a bit out of the ordinary artifacts to kinda keep the theme. ..feel free to post your shell artifacts.

That's not the reverse adze?

You remember that? Wow.. yeah it is. Its the only one bevelled from that side..it wouldn't work as an adze it would just dig in.
So..either it's a mistake or it was meant to chop not chip and chisel.

It's not really the same shape as the other adze tools made from that section of whelk shell.
It's more triangular.
Here is a bit from a normal one.

Told ya, my memory is good. It's scary good when it comes to irrelevant things. Lol. Not that this is an irrelevant piece.

it seems to have been ground? rather than flaked?
i wish we could trade places for a week....you here...then me in your area

That's one of the great parts about being a Tnet member. Your welcome.

You guys are right...When I see the variety of artifacts on here it makes me want to road trip to other parts of the country and search. Shell finds around here are rare but here's a personal favorite(found by my daughter): Ear plug. I've posted it before so I hope you don't mind. T.

some nice "rocks" from time to time.

I got some shell I'll post for the shell of it! Found these oddly enough in my mailbox. Gator is the original finder. Just for those who would have never figured it out. Flip a coin, Tom or Gator. It was Gator.

The scoop and pendants are just unreal to me. I love all of em. But those just blow my mind and among my favorite pieces out of my entire collection.

PS. Excuse black nasty finger nails. I'm a grease monkey. Not really by choice, but that's another post.

Sorry I only sent the poll end of that big celt/adze..its so hard to find a whole one.

Don't be sorry at all brother. It's authentic and is what it is. To me it is beautiful. Had you not sent it, I would never have known what a shell Celt looks like.

Nice collection Gator. You are lucky to have and know what they are. It is a different subject I have learned much about. Here is some from me.

The ones below are from here but came from your area I am sure. A friend let me take some pictures to share. Here are just a few thought you might like to see. With abundant chert the shell was ornamental only as far as I know.
