It has been a good week! A friend of mine has done a lot of research on old battle fields around here .He had a good idea where there might be a camp site. We went today and searched for most of the day . We found a few things and right before it was time to leave we started finding dropped musket balls. Then I pulled a small French button, after doing a jig I started hunting again and I dug a 1792 French silver coin about the size of a dime. Wow what an amazing time! On the way to the car I dug a 27th regiment button!! I am still on cloud 9. The place is about an hour away and time is hard to come by but we have just hit a small part of the area so I am pretty excited. ;D I have found some other stuff that I will post later when I have more time. Hope all is well and hh. :)

Nice finds birdman.

I bet your in heaven right now wondering what's under that soil.

A 1792 silver is a old one. Good luck in the future

Congratulations, you have reason to dance. It makes it all that more special when you do your own research and legwork and it pays off like this. Please keep us posted...Steve

By the way PBK came through again, the coin is not French it is Swiss . They were Prussian allies. Not sure what it was doing in a French camp . ??? It could have been lost at anytime.

Coins in this time had a wide circulation, I found at the site of a French camp of this time /1790s near Wiesbaden coins from Spain, England and even Sweden.
