found a penny and a aluminum thing

Found a penny today and some kind of aluminum thing. Not sure how to describe it almost the shape of a cow bell about 8" long and it was stamped on the top (japan) that's it. I will upload a picture tomorrow. Maybe someone will kmow what it is.
