Found a ring today.

I went back to a site where the famer said go ahead to see what you can find. The first time I went there I had mud up to my knees, now the farmer has worked the field to make it smooth, the last time the furrows were quite deep & full of water. Here is a nice early ring, I have another like it, it is made of brass, the compact was a surface find.

That's one heck of an old ring Brian, it almost looks to be from the 1600's!
Very nice find on the brass compact ... I love surface finds too!

Those finds are in amazing condition for coming out of a field! Most compacts from fields are torn up badly and that ring could very well have been smashed or sliced and diced !
