Found an interesting eagle button today,

This was about 10 inches down. I had a heck of a time getting it out from all the roots in the way. Looks like an eagle sitting on a cannon. can anyone out there help with some info on it? I only used soap and water to clean it, I have no idea of its value, or if it has any at all, any info on it would be great,

Nice find! It's from the New York Artillery. Earlyish 1800's. Very nice.

Cool, I had no idea, thanks. Early to mid 1800s you say?! its pretty crusty, cant tell if anything is- or should be writen on the reverse.
but thanks for the info, ill file it under "K" for KEEPER.

Oops, my first post appears to be incorrect about attributing this specifically to the NY Artillery. These are very similar to the NY Militia buttons, and I saw that you were in NY, so :P I goofed.

Found the same one a week and a half ago in Washington Ma. Mine says "extra strong" on the back. Looks like mine is in better shape. Luck of the draw I guess. Still a GREAT find . Congrats!
