Found 1/3 of a ZIPPO, missing its top and the insert lighter. This is the coolest part though because it allows it to be dated. From what I can tell online with Zippo in all caps and the Patent number 2032695 should date it from 1938-1950. Looks to be made of copper, which is interesting since I found it by another large piece of scrap copper.

It was found probably 2 feet down on a beach in Chicago. I always get a kick out of finding old stuff in the lake, makes me think I might find some silver coins!

Do you think a collector wants a ZIPPO case that's been sunk for 60+ years?

I found just the bottom part of a case last month and was told if I sent it to zippo they would send me a new one because of their lifetime warranty

Does it have a flat bottom? It looks vintage. I don't know too much, but they are very collectible because of the date codes. What does the bottom say?

It has the recessed bottom of the newish ones. Everything I found at that site was from the 50's
