I found this by an old native American well. It was in very thick brush with no know homes around the area. It looks to be gold plated copper. The best I can tell it is a horseshoe with a dog head. The back appears to have a spot where a post would be. Any help would be appreciated!!!

Maybe the NA well is actually an old homestead well? I'm curious as how to tell the difference? I ask because I came across a well deep in the woods without 1 speck of iron around it.

The area was well know for NAs. The way that it was built into the side of a creek bed was also a clue to it being NA. Could also find a lot of chips where they had been making tools.

Thanks for the replies! It might be a fox hunting pin. It would be weird in the area I live in since there are not many fox.
