i think i see a Thunderbird in the upper left.....how large is this?

This one is maybe 2 feet x 2 feet, maybe larger. We have found at least 3 others so far. Here is a different one.

I think you will find that they are fossils. Either plant/algae colonies or maybe just a mineral intrusion in some ancient fractures. Look at the second picture in the OP. Someone would have had to carve away the ENTIRE rock face to make the ribs stand out. The "ribs" are harder than the surrounding rock and the surrounding rock has weathered away over the eons.

Someone on another site found a link; they are called "boxwork weathering". I'll have to research further. Thanks for your ideas! :)

Yeah it looks like sedimentary rock with quartz crystalization within. Then over millions if years the sedimentary washes away with rain and moss growth leaving the quartz behind! very nice patterns though!
