Find two or more? I would like to find just one!Hi Brad - A cob is an irregular shaped coin made from a hand rolled (I believe) cylinder of copper, silver, or gold. Coins were sliced off and stamped or pressed with dies. Each cob is thus a little different in shape. If you find two or more cobs with the same exact shape they are highly-likely to be fakes.

Well the fakes are a bit easier to find --probably lost souvenirs, my first "cob" turned out to be a fake (confirmed by the word "copy" when I removed the crud)...my second (a real one) turned out to be a sea worn Spanish copper Marivedis cob from the late 1500s or early 1600s--I thought it was a smashed modern cent for a while after I found it
