It's either a button or a counter stamped copper coin. Is there a shank or evidence of where a shank was on the back? How large/thick is it in comparison to a quarter? Either way it's a nice find.:thumbsup:

I used to know what those things were as I've dug a million of them. Some have the star and others are plain. Doesn't the back side have a stud protruding? I need to come by and sign your cast sometime. Don't get too comfortable - you've got a big beach season rapidly approaching.

It's like a rivet or maybe something that is on a collar?

I just saw the other pics you posted of it... i couldnt tell the size in this pic. definitely some sort of rivet... maybe for a saddle or some other type of horse tack.

I've found a few of these and Evolution is right....horse tack rivet. Get better soon Sanddigger.

yes. brass rivot. I found some like that and also 1 with a palm tree top on it. get well soon!
