WoW! :o Those are some really interesting finds Herbie!
That spoon is gorgeous . . . is it worth getting restored?
The knife looks very well preserved considering how it looked before you "cracked it open"! :laughing7:

The candle holder is very unusual as well! What makes you think it came from a lantern? It looks to me like it was made to simply sit on a table. The surrounding "bowl" might have been made that way to catch the candle drippings? :icon_scratch:

Have a great weekend buddy!

Hi Herbie, I would've thought the handles original purpose would have been to raise the candle as it burnt down. :icon_scratch: Other than that, I have no idea. :dontknow:

What's a Fiddlehead Pewter spoon? Where is it broken? Sorry, but we don't find much pewter out here in left field.

Hello Tuberale,
Fiddlehead refers to the handle shape, in the group photo you can see the break about halfway up the handle.
it is also bent, and as they rest on the table don't appear to match, when properly aligned they fit like puzzle pieces.
I've yet to find an intact pewter, rather odd as I have found dozens of silver and plate
flatware in great condition.
Here's a little info on pewter spoon designs. Best digs to You!

Thanks HeavyMetalNut!
I remember seeing one Identified here a while back, otherwise I'd not have known either.
I'm not sure if style or manufacturing process lead to this shape. :laughing7:

Hi Dave,
I don't know about that piece either, whatever mechanism the handle controlled is gone, there appears to be an inner and outer sleeve where the candle (1-1/2") would go. odd item, maybe I have it upside down :icon_scratch:
and the handle changed the height of the shade.
I'm gonna look at this again :read2:
