HEY GUYS AND GALS

Made it out for the day after not getting out for 6 or 7 days.... Cousin ED came along also.

Hit the woods to find some foundations ..... found 5 all together so was happy on that part.Cousin ED was finding bottles and some nice coins/pendants...nice old Brittania 1739.

Th bottle with the Fisherman holding the big codfish is awesome...we are fishermen so of course we love it !!!

Any ideas on his PENDANT with the portrait ??? and the LION,S HEAD ??

The foundations were very trashy so I switched over to DISCRIM mode and sure enough I managed to separate out a cool find !!! .......Picked up this very interesting piece.....the tulip in the middle is the same as the one on NovaScotia 1800s pennies.

But the writing is what I assume to be French ??

Any help on some IDs on our finds would be appreciated.

Top 9 pictures are Cousin EDs.

You're just killin' it up there! A box plate is on my bucket list. Congrats on finding one that wasn't bent or broken. Always a plus. I would say it would make next years Best Finds Issue!

ty hogge

Had no idea just how important of a find it is until you guys on T-NET informed me.

Sounds like it may end up being my best find for a very long time !

It is probably from the 71st Foot. They were bonnet badges, for the headgear.

Not yet convinced it is a great site....may very well just be where one of the soldiers went to live after the war or someone from the early 1900s found it and lost it...
Haven,t found anything else there that would say otherwise....but the site needs a whole day of carefull hunting.

However I was told that there was a military outpost formed in the vacinity after the REV WAR.

I am too much of a newb still to this hobby and have much to learn to even venture a guess......

But was told that it could be worth 3k.....5k if was in pristine shape which it is not.

Really doesn,t matter ...although is always nice to know....it will never be sold unless I am fortunate enough to find a duplicate.

I wish I could say that I wouldn't sell one of my finds for 3 - 5K if I was offered it! :laughing7:
Of course, those kinds of finds are few and far between here in Ontario! :dontknow:

Congrats again Aqua,
Dave

If I thought I had a chance at finding another one ....it would be sold ... but odds are that I will never will. I would be ill after the $ is gone and the Plate is gone too.
Prolly my first and only find that will be of any substantial value.

TY Ironhorse.....

Damn if I dig every signal I,ll need to hire you and buy a dozen shovels :tongue3:

That place is infested with iron/ tin cans / bottles etc etc.... told myself that I wold pick a spot this summer and clear it...but damn thats a tall order !!!

If I dug anything remotely that good at a site, you bet I'd be picking it clean of signals! Even the low conductors like little pieces of lead or pewter!

BTW that's a nice trigger guard piece in your photos above. No one mentioned that nice relic in all the drooling over the enviable and first rate box plate find.

Cheers,

Buck

Every signal is very tall order !!

But think I,ll give it a try..... even the low numbers that is typically iron ??????????

The trigger guard piece came from another basement a few miles from that site.

When people say to dig the low "TONES" they assume you're using some discrimination, so not iron, targets like foil. If you're looking at numbers on the screen you're missing stuff because in junky areas they are often wrong, or don't register at all.

ALL METAL is my mode of choice.......but am trying to get used to DISCRIM mode. So I,m a number watcher on the screen.

What do you mean by...don,t register at all ?
