Recently we find a crash site of a USA aircraft crashed near Laviano, 45 km south\east of Salerno. Do you are able to help us to identify type of aircraft and his pilot? Thanks!

Cool finds I have no idea what an LP127-P is or where it is from so,
no idea if this is your plane. but found this at ww2 talk:

Thanks. Because we find some 12,7 bullets marked 1942 and 1943. The aircraft is surely a fighter. The place is Laviano. The pilot was killed in the crash. Do you have some idea

Matteo, It is more than likely an American aircraft. The stampings on your 50 caliber casings indicate manufacturers "DM"- Des Moines Iowa Ordinance plant, "SL" Saint Louis Missouri Ordinance plant, and "RA" Remington Arms Ordinance plant, all American makers. Best of luck on your research. Sub

It is a small label 25x55 mm. So it must be for a fighter. Do you have some idea to identify this aircraft crashed in sept 1943 near town of Laviano? The pilot deceased in the crash. He jump but not survived.

Laviano is a small town (population 1,500). In their cemetery that airman's grave may be there--with some information on the tombstone. The Director of the Cemetery might have information in his files regarding that incident. Another source would be the archives of Death Certificates issued by the local authority.

Sorry but not record exist in Laviano. Sept 1943 was a difficult month in Italy.....

Thanks Nov2101. The local police give us informations of this crash site (we are the Salerno Air Finders like you can see here www.1943salerno.it ). Some people informed us that pilot jumped just before the cras but he not survived. Surely he was buried in local cemetery and then buried in Paestum Cemetery when american troops are in Laviano area after some days. However there are not registration available because Laviano town was totally destroyed in earthquake of 23 november 1980.

Relic picture #4 (round item) from the original post could be the hub of a turbine blade from a supercharger.

That doesn't help much as I think most aircraft engines by 1943 used a supercharger of some kind.
